Medical Minute: “My pancreas hurts. What could be wrong?”
Whenever
a major organ causes you pain we recommend scheduling an
appointment to visit your doctor as soon as he or she can squeeze you
in. In the mean time here are a few things you can do to help
alleviate your discomfort: (1) Ice.
Apply directly to the affected area to numb the nerve endings.
It is a little tricky in this case since your pancreas is tucked
neatly inside your abdominal cavity. Don't let this dissuade you.
Keep trying. (2) Massage.
No, not your pancreas. Rather, the shoulders of your
significant other. Then he or she might have sex with you thus
taking your mind off the soreness of your pancreas. (3) Medication.
While normal aches and pains can often be allayed rather affectively
with over-the-counter drugs, painful internal organs are usually
indicative of a more serious and expensive medical problem requiring
the use of prescription medications... specifically, the selling on the black market of any unused portions sitting in your medicine cabinet. This will be necessary in order to prepare financially for your impending Asian "Transplant Vacation".
We
here at medical minute hope our advice was helpful and, as always, wish
you luck with your very serious and worrisome health condition. Cheers!
